ABSTRACT

Risk consideration in enterprise engineering is gaining attention since the business environment is becoming more and more competitive, complex, and unpredictable. Risk-aware Business Process Management (R-BPM) is a recently emerged management paradigm, which assists organizations in addressing this concern. R-BPM strives to integrate two traditionally isolated areas: risk management and business process management. This chapter will present recent achievements of our long-term research devoted to this field. It consists in developing an integrated process-risk management methodological framework, named BPRIM, and its related multi-view modeling method, called e-BPRIM, which promotes and supports risk-aware process management with ADOBPRIM, a computer-assisted modeling environment based on ADOXX. A case study related to the management of the COVID-19 pandemic in France shall illustrate the usage of the e-BPRIM method with the ADOBPRIM modeling environment. © Springer International Publishing AG 2018.

ABSTRACT

Nowadays, Business continuity management (BCM) has become an important topic in most sectors of activity, for government organizations as well as for business owners and their stakeholders, especially after the pandemic of COVID-19. For years, companies and organizations have been working on their BCM strategies to deal with disruptive events like floods, terrorist attacks, and pandemics. As the business environment is becoming increasingly competitive, having a well-established and clear BCM tool is a priority rather than merely providing verbose documents of business continuity plans(BCP) in which management rules and instructions are specified in a textual manner that makes their implementation very difficult. This present research sets out to fulfill this need by designing a dedicated tool, named "BECARE", which supports the efficient application of the BCM framework. Therefore, a literature analysis was conducted to investigate the scientific foundations of BCM in order to point out the main components and features needed to be implemented and supported by this dedicated tool. "BECARE" tool was implemented using the ADOxx meta-modeling platform which is openly available, allowing its adoption and use in BCM practice. Copyright (C) 2021 The Authors.

ABSTRACT

The recent challenges presented by the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) are examples for the need to improve the soundness and resilience of hospital management. Digital Twin technique seems to be a relevant means to attend these needs. It consists of virtual representations of real assets and/or processes that are used to understand, predict and optimize their operation and efficiency. The present work sets out to investigate the usefulness of this technique for hospital management and points out the process of developing a digital twin framework dedicated to real-time monitoring of patients' pathways and predicting their near future. It aims to handle irregular, unusual and unexpected behaviors that may happen in hospitals and helps to make the right decision to mitigate the unpredictability situation. Different issues related to the way of developing, initializing and synchronizing the digital twin are discussed in this paper. © 2020 The Authors.
